THE WACKO JACKO PROJECT

MJ Innocent

“The Wacko Jacko Project” follows three bright-eyed film students who set off into the woods to shoot a low‑budget documentary about local folklore, only to discover something far more terrifying than dodgy camera angles and a dying battery. Their abandoned kit is later found scattered across the forest floor, along with hours of shaky footage, panicked whispering, and one suspiciously well‑executed moonwalk captured in the distance.

As investigators piece together the recordings, a bizarre truth emerges: the trio were stalked, cornered, and ultimately undone by a wildly unhinged Michael Jackson super‑stan who had gone so far down the rabbit hole of fandom she’d practically set up permanent residence there. Dressed head‑to‑toe in glittering tribute gear and speaking exclusively in misquoted MJ lyrics, she prowled the woods like a sequinned cryptid, determined to “educate” the students on the sacred art of celebrity worship.

Her demands escalated quickly. She insisted they renounce their “ignorant casual fan energy,” practise choreographed devotion rituals, and refer to her only as “The True Keeper of the Legacy.” When the students attempted to reason with her—pointing out that perhaps, just perhaps, she was taking the whole thing a bit far—she responded with increasingly deranged lectures about haters, conspiracies, and how the world simply wasn’t ready for her truth.

The footage grows more chaotic as the students try to escape, only to be thwarted by her encyclopaedic knowledge of every MJ dance move, which she weaponises with alarming enthusiasm. Their refusal to join her cult of eternal adoration seals their fate, leaving behind a chilling reminder of what happens when fandom stops being fun and starts becoming a full‑time personality.

Equal parts horror, satire, and affectionate jab at the more… intense corners of pop‑star worship, “The Wacko Jacko Project” asks the age‑old question: how far would you go for your idol—and how far is too far when someone else goes there for you?
